T-CAMS, explained.

The clearing service, the payment and the organisations involved. Find the answer you need, then follow the detail.

The work T-CAMS supports

A clearing agent brings together the documents, declarations and arrangements a shipment needs. T-CAMS supports the administration around that work: identifying the service, recording charges and connecting payment information with the relevant compliance record.

Our Tanzania programme brings CapitalPay’s technology work together with TAFFA and TACAS. The partnership announcement records TRA’s role as a witness to the agreement.

Who does what

Your questions

Is T-CAMS the same system as TANCIS?

T-CAMS concerns clearing-agent services and payment administration. TANCIS is TRA’s customs system. Linking a transaction record between systems does not transfer an institution’s customs responsibilities to a technology provider.

Does the government fee order set CapitalPay’s price?

GN 83 sets out minimum professional fees for clearing and forwarding services. It does not name CapitalPay or specify a CapitalPay platform tariff. A platform charge has its own commercial basis.

What does the percentage in a fee discussion apply to?

A percentage needs a named base: an agent’s fee, cargo value and government tax are different amounts. Check the rate, base, payer and recipient together. Our fee guide explains the published discussion; the service documents establish the charge for a particular transaction.

What does a payment record tell me?

An invoice reference identifies the request. A payment status records an outcome. A reconciliation record matches those details. These records answer different questions; a successful payment alone does not establish that customs has released a shipment.

Who can see the transaction information?

Access depends on the service and the responsibilities of the organisations involved. The project’s service and data-processing terms are the place to establish which records are exchanged, authorised access, storage and retention. Our guide explains these distinctions without treating a software connection as ownership of the underlying information.

Where can agents ask about participation or raise a concern?

Contact the Tanzania team about service availability, training, the applicable terms or a transaction. Include your organisation, the programme and the point you need answered. For an invoice query, include the reference and the disputed item. Keep passwords, PINs and sensitive shipment records out of the website form.

Do charges from another country apply here?

Tanzania programmes have their own service arrangements. A fee, contract or revenue-sharing calculation for another country does not establish the amount payable for a Tanzania transaction.
